Meekness vs. Anger

I used to have a friend who called Meakness, “Power under control”. More specifically, it is yielding our rights to God so He can demonstrate His peace and power through our lives. One Hebrew word translated meekness is -anavah. It is derived from the root -anah, which means “to humble oneself, to bow down, to be afflicted, to become low.” One Greek word for meek is -praus. It simply means “mild, humble.” The word meekness is often used in combination with other words such as lowliness (see Ephesians 4:2), righteousness (see Psalm 45:4), and gentleness (see II Corinthians 10:1). Humility vs. Pride
March 4, 2008
Humility is recognizing that in myself I am nothing and have nothing, and therefore, everything in life is a gift from God’s hand.Several Hebrew words are translated humble. One is -anah, which means “to stoop, be downcast, bow down; to be afflicted; to weaken oneself; to mishandle.” King David expressed humility of soul by wearing sackcloth and by fasting. (See Psalm 35:13.)
